A powerful knowledge network branching throughout the UK.

Hundreds of members, looking after thousands of acres of woodland and working with thousands of people in forestry, making, education, campaigning and more. Woodland Heritage connects and empowers its members through events, Wood Culture: The Journal of Woodland Heritage and more. In addition, the charity is involved in a number of vital partnerships and networks. Some of these include:

Forest and Climate Change Partnership

During a climate crisis, we aren’t making the most of what we have. Through membership of the FCCP, Woodland Heritage will help shape the forestry sector’s continued response to climate change. Whether through promoting the management of woodland, activities that encourage the creation and nurture of ‘productive woodland’ or through research and woodland resilience.

Action Oak

Woodland Heritage is a founding partner of the Action Oak initiative, a national partnership made up of charities, government and private landowners who have come together to protect our oaks for future generations.

Tree Health Policy Group

Woodland Heritage supports the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) development of the ‘Tree Health Resilience Strategy’ which was developed in partnership with key stakeholders. It sets out plans to protect England’s tree population from pest and disease threats. We continue to be involved in consultations as a stakeholder.

UK Squirrel Accord

Woodland Heritage is a signatory to the UK Squirrel Accord, a UK-wide partnership of 45 leading conservation, forestry and land management organisations, Government agencies and companies.

National Wood Strategy

Thriving trees, woods and forests, and the products they provide, are essential to help us tackle some of society’s biggest challenges. Woodland Heritage welcomes this strategy.

Networks for Resilience

Woodland Heritage is working with Small Woods, the Royal Forestry Society, Sylva Foundation and Grown in Britain to develop more effective third-sector methods to support woodland owners. The strategic focus is on resiliency.
